Gjoa Platform is situated in The Northern Sea45 km from west-south coast of Norway. This oil field was discovered in 1989 and the auction for building of the platform was won by Aker in 2006. The works in Aker Kvaerner Stord shipyard lasted 4 years. During the building, the main operator of the platform was StatoilHydro, whereas after its starting , from 2010 , the control of the object was taken by GDF Suez. Gjoa reserves are estimated as 40,000,000,000 cu. metres and about 83,000,000 barrels of oil. The workers recruited for Fosdalen Company worked in the shipyard of Stord at the building of the frame of this platform in the years 2007-2008.
