Ormen Lange is a natural sea-gas field situated 120 km north-west of Kristiansund in Norway. The deposit was discovered in 1997 and in 2007 the official start of exploitation took place. In case of Ormen Lange the typical solution of using platforms was not introduced . Application of 24 underwater well-bore heads was planned , located in 4 groups on the ocean bottom , from where two pipelines of 80 cm diameter will go and they will carry the gas to the terminal in Nyhamma in Aukra .There the gas will be processed with the on-land methods. As far as today, three groups of heads are in use The operator of the source is Petoro AS. The workers recruited for Fosdalen performed the complex welding works at the constructions of trestle gas pipelines in 2005-2006 in Aker Verdal shipyard.
